What is C.A.S.T. for Kids

C.A.S.T. for Kids is a one day outdoor fishing event that provides disabled and special needs children an opportunity to learn to fish. For many of the children, this is the first opportunity to fish because of limitations caused by their disability.
C.A.S.T. for Kids is steered toward youth age 6 to 18, with little or no fishing experience. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the event with their children in order to provide future opportunities for their children. Children are matched up with expert anglers from the BASS Federation and/or other fishing or service organizations who will take them on boats and teach them the basics of fishing, safety, and fishing ethics.
C.A.S.T. for Kids is not only fun for the participants but to all those who volunteer their time for the event. Kids learn to enjoy the outdoors and fishing while volunteers learn a valuable lesson about living with a disability and other limitations.
 

Important Message

 

Due to the recent storms and their impact across the state, the CAST for Kids

event scheduled for Saturday May 7th, 2011 has been rescheduled for

October 15th, 2011.

 

If you have already registered for the May 7th event, you will not need to register

for the October 15th event. If you have not registered you can still complete

and return the appropriate form located at the top of this page.

Boaters Needed!

 

We currently have a record number of participants registered for the October 15th event

and we really need the boaters across Alabama to step up and register to take these

wonderful child fishing for a few hours. Ask any boater from the previous events how special

this day was not only kids, but for themselves as well. This event would not be possible if it

wasn't for the great boater that volunteer each year. Please fill out a Boater Registration form

and send it to Stephanie Robinson as soon as possible.
